But changing an answer solely because you "feel uncertain" is different from reasoning through it. If you re-read the question and your original answer still makes sense, stick with it. The research shows that most changes improve the score, not harm it, but only when the change is backed by reasoning.
What if I have no idea on a question and the exam has negative marking?
Leave it blank. A wild guess with 0% confidence yields an expected value of −0.25 (or whatever the penalty is). Blanking yields 0.
