A weekly review is a structured pause to assess the past week and prepare for the next one. Set aside 10–20 minutes in a quiet space, ideally at the same time each week. Go through each section of this checklist in order: first, acknowledge what you accomplished and what didn't happen; then, scan for upcoming deadlines and surprises; finally, commit to your top priorities and block time to work on them.
The goal is not perfection—it's clarity. A brief, consistent weekly review every Friday or Sunday beats a perfect one you put off for two months.
A weekly review is a short routine where you pause to look back on the past week, recognize what you completed, note what fell through the cracks, and look ahead to the week ahead. It lets you close open loops (unfinished tasks, unanswered questions) and reset your focus for the coming days.
The best time is the same day each week—many students choose Friday afternoon or Sunday evening. Pick a time when you're not rushed (not 15 minutes before bed) and when your calendar is quieter. Consistency matters far more than the exact day or time.
A good weekly review takes 10–20 minutes for most students, once you build the habit. If you're new to it, expect 20–30 minutes as you learn the rhythm. A quick review you actually do every week is far more valuable than a thorough one you keep postponing.
