    Master these 15 word parts and you can decode hundreds of medical terms. Each combines meaning—for example, cardio- (heart) + -itis (inflammation) = carditis (inflammation of the heart).

    Memorizing whole words is slow. Splitting terms into prefix + root + suffix is faster—and it reveals patterns.

    Your brain has limited working memory. Instead of storing 50+ whole terms, store 20 word parts and combine them. When you encounter a new term like myocarditis, you already know my- (muscle), cardio- (heart), and -itis (inflammation) — you can infer the meaning without a dictionary.
